The Prepared American, LLC does not manufacture any items. Therefore, we do not offer any warranty expressed or implied on any item. Warranty issues will need to be addressed with the original manufacturer. There is no warranty on any surplus item.  We do not take any responsibility for items that are used incorrectly or injuries occurring from the use of any item. We recommend reading all directions thoroughly before using any product, especially those items designed for defense, i.e. knives, pepper spray, etc.  Please read our return policy carefully before placing your order as there are some items that we do not accept returns on.  For items such as pepper spray, tasers, and spring assisted knives it is your responsiblity to know your state and local laws regarding such items. You must be of legal age to order from this site.

Here at The Prepared American, LLC, we take your privacy very seriously, and we make every effort to preserve your privacy and make our web site a safe place to shop. We do not disclose your personal information with any third party, unless it is required by law, to enforce our site policies, or to protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. Besides reasons listed above for releasing third party information, customers private information will be used by The Prepared American to help personalize your shopping experience and improve customer service. To accomplish this personalized experience cookies must be enabled for our site. You can expect to receive emails verifying your order and shipping information. If you so chose, you may receive emails regarding updates or newsletters. If you receive any emails or other request for information from The Prepared American, LLC that you have not authorized or are not expecting please notify us immediately. We will NEVER send emails requesting credit card or other personal information. If this is needed, you will be sent an email asking you to call us or we will call you directly. Do not put this info into an email


The customer is responsible for all shipping costs. We do not add handling cost. The cost is figured at checkout based on UPS, USPS, or FED-EX shipping quotes. The automated shipping quotes usually do not cover the actual shipping cost and we absorb the difference, however, in the event of a significant overcharge (usually $2.00 or more) we will refund your credit card the overage.  It is our goal that customers never be overcharged for shipping.  Again, please read our return policy carefully before ordering.  Normal shipping days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  We only ship within the "Lower 48" states.


By ordering from The Prepared American, LLC you are entering into a legal agreement to pay for said products.  We do want you to be happy with your purchase. Therefore, if you have any issues or concerns with your order when you receive it please contact us via phone or email immediately and we will do our best to resolve any such issue. Returns will be handled based on our return policy.


Termination of Service

 The Prepared American, LLC, in its sole discretion, has the right (but not the obligation) to delete or deactivate your account, block your email or IP address, or otherwise terminate your access to or use of the Service (or any part thereof), immediately and without notice, and remove and discard any Content within the Service for any reason, including, without limitation, if The Prepared American, LLC believes that you have violated this User Agreement. Further, The Prepared American, LLC shall not be liable to you or any Third Party for any termination of your access to the Service.



Return Policy

We do our very best to ensure our customers are happy with their purchase. All items are inspected prior to shipment to prevent damaged items from being sent. However, occasionally accidents do happen during shipping.  Please inspect all items upon receiving and notify the shipping carrier A.S.A.P. as they are responsible for items damaged during shipping.   If you receive a damaged product please notify us by phone or email immediately upon receiving the item.  If you merely wish to return an item for refund or exchange, please notify us within 10 days of receiving the item. It must be intact in the unopened original packaging as we cannot repackage items, especially those in clamshell type containers. A 20% restocking fee may apply to returned items. No items will be considered for return after 10 days. Please include a copy of your receipt with your return.  The customer is responsible for return shipping charges.  Certain items are not returnable. These items include whistles, canteens, canteen cups, mess kits, buckets, lids, oxygen absorbers, mylar bags, desiccants and books.  Also, please realize that we do sell many used items in our surplus category. These will always be identified as used in the description. We grade these items Grade I, II, or III depending on condition. So if you purchase a used item, please understand up front that it is not new. Surplus items will always have a 20% restocking fee with return shipping paid by the customer.  All refunds are minus original shipping charges.
